I need to replace both electric shift solenoids on my 1969 85 hp rude'. Where can I get new ones, or should I send these out to be rebuilt? Any help would be great. Thanks!

I haven't checked right here yet but you might want to. Your dealer may still be able to get them otherwise there are several marine salvage places on the net.

not real sure why they are bad. Got the boat for next to nothing and working on getting it running. If anyone has some reputable websites to recommend for the solenoids please let me know!;)

Not to insult your intelligence but how do you know they are bad. The reason I ask is its rare they go bad, especially both of them.

Well, the wire was melted. I supplied 12 volts (green wire) with proper ground and it is pegging the meter (outside of the lower unit). The other is ok. The spring washer is rusty, so I suspect some water damage.

In addition, I would rather replace BOTH so I don't have to go back in there for a while (I hope!!!!)
