Force OB using OMC gas tank

I have asked this question before but I dont remember what the recommendation was.

Have 2 OB's Force 15 and OMC 9.9 I use both intermitently and would like to use same gas tank on both engines.

I do prefer the OMC tank ... but I am concerned with the fact that it accumulates pressure buildup in oposite to the Qwicksilver tank that is fully ventilated .. thus does not have any pressure inside.

My question is: Can that presure have a negative effect on the Force OB carburator which normaly operates from no pressure at all from the Qwicksilver tank ?

Need to know prior to making modification to the gas hose on the Force OB.

Thank you

Re: Force OB using OMC gas tank

i have used mercury tanks with omc motors for years and also the other way around.all i did was cut the 1 end off the line from the tank and attach either merc or omc end as required.never a problem, period.

Not quite sure what you're saying about pressure in the OMC tank. All tanks need venting. Only the very old (50s and 60s) Johnson and Evinrudes used a pressure tank with 2 lines and a pump. Ever since they went to one line, they are all supposed to be vented. You can use any tank with any motor, just change the fittings.

The OMC tank is part of a 1981 Johnson 9.9 hp kit. it vents automaticaly without a vent screw to open as per the Qwicksilver tank, but it (omc tank) always keeps some pressure inside in oposite to the other tanks that has a vent screw.

Thank you,
