If you can't find any leaks, pressure check the PS oil cooler. It's probably pumping the oil into the cooling water.

behind the engine, on a coolant line, you will see a small thing that looks the size of a check valve.
that is it, and it also needs draining for winter.

Under, or behind the motor, In the water line from the Outdrive to the T-stat Housing, there's a Cannister with 2 Large Waterlines,+ 2 Small P/S Oil lines hooked to it.........
That's the Cooler........
also bondo if i run into a problem can i disconect the p/s pump temp and still drive the boat.
I don't know how your Belts run,........
As long as the Circulating Pump,+ the Alt. are turning,.......
I Don't See a Problem...........

You have 2 hoses coming off the power steering cylinder on the transom shield.
Find the big one and follow it............ it goes to the cooler.

Re: 89 5.7 losing p/s fluid

What are you calling a "Rack" got a picture???
The PS Control unit (your picture) is the same unit for all engines.
But you have me confused. If the pump is leaking, why did you order the actuator/control unit?

You can think that if you want, but if it's a rusted mass, it probably needed replaced anyway.
