I was planning on painting my cylinder heads and intake manifold....On the heads, where shouldn't I get paint? I'm thinking the gasket mounting surfaces....is it ok to paint the head bolt holes on the bottom? The heads and manifold have been to the machine shop and cleaned up....

Thanks,
John

Aren't the head bolt holes where the head gasket goes?

I'm talking about the tops of the bottom holes under the spark plug holes.....at the bottom of the head.....

OK, I gotcha.
I dunno, what you don't want to do is create any friction that would affect the torque down readings, if the bolts use washers, no problem.

This I know go ahead and paint away and any paint that gets on the gasket surface will have to be washed off, as far as the bolt holes no problem. You can paint the engine with any automotive paint as you do not need the high temp stuff. The engine will never get that hot.
