Hi, I was wondering if anyone here new what the part number is for the trim and tilt motor on a 72 merc 1150. I am pretty certain the motor is shot as I can hear the solenoid clicking. Also I am pretty sure the part is discontinued but what could be bought to replace it??

Thanks

Fluid levels are fine and knobs are in proper position and the armature has been redone. When you hit the casing you can here the armature start to whine but that is about it.

Best to keep an eye on ebay then...only place that I know off..
I don't know what you could get to replace it that would work, besides original..

Re: 1972 Merc 1150 trim and tilt

On your Merc PTT, the motor and the trim resovoir are a single piece unit. Arco makes what appears to be an identical unit with a plastic resovoir, however the motor's armature is too short to reach the pump. I have been told (not verified this) that there is an extension piece to the armature which will adap this unit for your pump. Your other alternatives are to take the whole unit to a automotive starter/generator shop, or some other electriv motor rebuilder, or find a replacement in an outboard junk yard.

I was lucky enough to find one around the corner from me in coastal NJ.

Thanks for the replies, I was able to find a aftermarket part made by Sierra and it is working perfectly now.
