Please help... New user with no money or time to pay a mechanic.
I posted some of below in the wrong area last night.
Got a 93 v6 I/O w/ merc alpha one. When boat in water, water coming in somewhere under the main shaft leading to stern/ I/O drive. Pencil size stream of water squirting up. Mirrors and lights not much help started boat in driveway with hose. No water leaking into boat.

In driveway, took hose and filled bottom of boat with water. Would not start leaking until filled to bottom of engine/shaft area. Two holes which I belive to be part of the exhaust near exhaust boot (one on each side) is where it driped out onto the ground. I belive these are exhaust/water exit holes? When started in driveway with hose, water was coming out steadaly from what I belive are exhaust/water exit holes. Seloc manual not much help in this area.

The hoses/ bellow clamps and shifter cable boots (exterior of outdrive)are tight. No cracks our dried out rubber. No water visable coming from any. Boat has never seen salt water. Never kept on lake. Mostly garage kept. No water in any fluids.

Please help.... Thanks in advance for any feedback,
Chris

It may be the incoming water supply line from the outdrive to the motor the feed line goes through the transom and then goes through the gimball housing then another hose attaches to that to go to the motor. I bet thats where your leak is coming from.
Is the leak under pressure or is it just dribbling? if its jsut dribbling then its somethign else

It does not leak when started in driveway with a hose. When boat in water, I noticed the more people in the boat the worse it got. Steady stream... Bildge runs every 20 mins for at least 1 1/2 minutes.

When I filled up the bottom of the boat with hose, it was no where near the intake line. If it was the intake line, it should leak when running in driveway with hose. Correct?

Just got back inside... I had two of my friends look at it, we all agree it's pouring out what I belive is the exhaust holes near the exhaust, drive, shift boot, or water intake. No water was present around any of the boots or intake.

I'm pretty sure it's coming in from the exhaust area near the main shaft exits the engine apox 2-3 inches torwards stern. I belive there is a seem in the (one pc) casting. I think it is on top because I can see the stream when in the water and it shoots up to the sky maybe 4 in tall. It's shooting onto the bearing where shaft exits the engine. I can see the stream, just not where it's coming in at?

Could that of cracked? Am I crazy? JB WELD?

Yes you do have a water outlet from the stern, water goes in, it must come out. OK, what I am trying to understand is you have water leaking into the engine compartment, yes? can you be more specific on the pencil size stream of water? could it be a hole from a hose coming from the exhaust manifold?

Re: Water coming in from Exhaust

Thank you for your feedback...
I figured it out. I have a small crack/hole in my exhaust. It's just below the main shaft as it exits the engine (3 in towards stern). It's 5-10mm off a parting line.
I posted another question tonight. Can I get at it with the outdrive removed. I'm thinking weld, or JB weld if I cant get at it.
Going on vaca in 3 weeks. Wife afraid to have kids in boat.

You will need to remove the drive & at least move the engine foreward.....
It sounds like a bad y pipe.....
Has this boat spent alot of time moored in saltwater?...
You will not get at it with out removing the engine.....
At least not properly.....:(

Dang.... No salt water. Never moored in water for more that week at time. Got to pull engine I guess? How could this have cracked? Bad motor mounts? Bad cast, design ect?
I've now read lots on welding intake/exhaust for 4 bangers as a result of poor winterizing. I've done it properly and in time every time... and is "all exhaust".
I did not own the boat it's whole life. It's a 93 and I got it in 98. Poor design Cheeta hull. Not good in rough water. Guy who owned it fished in Lk Michigan a lot. Had/has some stress cracks in open bow area (top exteroir (arm rest if sitting in open bow)).
