If it runs and has good compression I'd say it's worth $200. Everyone is different though!

And they all say they run! Or did run at some point in the past!

as with any motor, check compression, preferable over 100psi each, but more important that the numbers be within 10% of each other. check spark on all 4 wires, jump 3/8 to 1/2 inch. also check the lower unit oil for water. look the power head over well, for signs of overheating, discolored metal areas where paint has burnt off. funky wiring. find out all the history of the motor, when it was serviced, and what was done. this comes in handy for future repairs. plan on replacing the impeller immediately.

If that motor is the mechanical shift type (heavy duty LU my *****), check to make sure the gears and shift dog are in good shape. That was the weak link.

Look out for that thing being a gas burner. Even at slower speeds. I had one and couldn't carry enough gas to go where I wanted to go.

I have the exact same motor on a 1972 15 ft Glastron, though a 1961. Great motor, but an absolute pig on gas. For $200, I would buy it, if all pans out like Tasha said above. Keep in mind that parts are hard to find, and when you do find them, they are a bit expensive. I would recommend taking the handles off the back of the motor, as they get in the way of ski ropes, etc. And I think it looks much better with them off anyway. You can always replace them when you need to work on the motor.
I moved up to I/O last year, but still have the old outboard. I love the increase in gas mileage, especially with the price of gas now, though I do miss the smell of 2 stroke. I say go for it- that is a good price for one that runs well!
