We made a quick trip today to try out new restoration out(77 Regal). We were running along around 25 or so and apparently there was a jetski riding our wake. About that time out boat shut off, I imediatly jumped to the rear to check out the primer bulb(Had trouble with the bulb collapsing) and out of the corner of my eye I see this Big splash. When we stopped the guy couldnt and jumped of in the water. He landed about 5 or 6 feet from our boat. Skeerd the hell out of me. Then he swam as hard as he could to his unit and got out of there, Embarrised Im sure. Hope he brought extra Trunks

I hate Jet ski's. Unfortunately it's a few bad apples that gave them this reputation.

i dont mind jet skis. theire really fun to ride. but unfortunately it only takes a few a holes to lump them all in one ball. and this is coming from a ex jet skier that rode them exclusively for 10 years now. Now that I have a boat i can totally see why boaters hated me. i always followed the rules and was courteous but I got lumped in with the other screwballs

I have to say that I have only ever seen a couple of jet skiers who were behaving repsectfully and in a civilized fashion that would be a credit to their kind. Most of them seem to be piloted by immature jerks, often drunk. As a kayaker and a powerboat fisherman, I don't have many good things to say about jetskis ....

I've got a couple of SeaDoos and bought a 20' Bayliner Capri last year. I always drove the Doos like a boat, slowly around others, etc. I've also helped several capsized sailboats and even had tools to help a stranded boater one time. Having said that, once I started driving the Bayliner I realized what a pain many of the PWCrs are.

Re: Dude on a jetski about ate it today

I helped a stranded jet-skier once. He flagged me down and gave a convincing story of mechanical failure. I towed him in to the ramp and he scurried off to his truck. While I was loading my own boat on the trailer, he filled his Seadoo up with gas from a tank he had in his truck and took off without so much as a thank you. Feeling stupid and lied to, I seriously considered disabling his truck and giving him a legitimate "mechanical failure" to worry about upon returning. But at the end of the day, I'm just not that kind of guy.

It crossed my mind though.

Re: Dude on a jetski about ate it today

Had one while we were away on vacation bugging my children when they were out tubing. They are between the ages of 19 to 25 and are very responsible. The idiot was buzzing around the tube rider and getting closer each pass. The children stopped and pulled the tube rider in. While they were doing this the idiot was making very close passes to our boat and was extremely dangerous. They came back to the cottage quite slowly with the idiot still buzzing around them.
Great thing 2 days later, we find the same guy stranded in the middle of the lake looking for a tow. We ask him where he is heading and find he is wanting to go about a mile further west than where we are staying. My son offers him the towrope and then takes the guy about 2 miles further east and drops him off at a marina. Before he left my son advises the idiot that he would be very happy to help all he could if the guy had shown a little courtesy 2 days ago.
Hope he remembers this next time he is out after he gets his jetski fixed !!!!

No one pays attention to the nice ones.
It's the #@&!! jerks that we remember.

So true. Remember it is not the jet ski that is the problem it's the driver. It too have had my issues. We have some friends that sail and we often do transfers from one boat to another while underway. It's really quite simple until you get a jet ski buzzing us creating a lot of wake to deal with when transferring passengers. However, I've seen many a boat doing the same thing. Especially the fast overpowered ones.

I was checking out the ramp at Silverwood Lake in CA the other weekend. There were a few jetskis that were hanging out in the water right behind boats that were launching. I was waiting for them to get hit but they never did.
