I think I know what the problem but am curious on thoughts for what the engine would start - no problem - but immediately die. The plugs are new and properly gapped and torqued...

could be carb, failing power pack, failing coils. what have you found, have you checked compression, spark that will pump 1/2 inch. what do the new plugs look like after this. wet, dry, oily. need a little more info. has the motor been unused for a period of time?

The engine has not been used for about 6 months and I winterized per the book. The plug compression seems just fine but the plugs were oily when I took them out.

what about spark, you still need to do a compression check as it tell you about the general health of the engine. i check mine twice a year.

I finally check the pressure and it is in range on all four. I think it is carb rebuilding time??
