Im TRYING to separate the hull from the dock. The screws that hold em together are so rusty that the heads disintegrate when i try to unscrew them. I got a few out by taking a vice to the other end but some screws broke leaving nothing to grab onto. Theres still a few left.

Any suggestions on how to get the rest out with wrecking the fiberglass?

:mad:Something that should of only taken me 1 hr is turning into a whole day:mad::mad: plz im desperate lol

Thanks

Re: Screw this....

You might have to grind them out and then repair the glass, which should actually be an easy fix.

Have you simply tried prying a little bit, if they are that rusty, they may just snap and you can grind them off later and re-drill new holes for new screws. Can you get a hacksaw blade in between? I just did an old Glasstron where half the screw heads were gone, and the other half of the screws were just pulled out of the hull. I was able to pry the deck slightly and get the rusted screws to break off. I later just ground off the holes and re drilled new ones in between the old holes.

I usually use ropes to hold my hull to the dock and I just untie them. LOL

Re: Screw this....

Be glad yours has screws, I have an old Glasspar here that's attached with resin and not fasteners. Its most likely factory since there's no sign of screw holes, just a few outer clips here and there and lots of gelcoat bonding the top to the bottom, then they have a custom rub rail moulding that snaps over the lip formed by the two hulls. I guess they never intended this to come apart. On this I will either work around not being able to remove the deck or simply only cut out that parts that I have to remove and glass them back later.

Re: Screw this....

Depends if you want to fill it in and paint it, or use a polyester gel coat type repair.

Someone else please jump in here and explain the difference . . . .
