Hi guys, anyone have the towing weight of the 1994 2300SC? I see a wide variety of numbers out there for various years, it's a bit confusing. I'm trying to see if my V8 Volvo XC90 (5000 to 5500 towing capacity, have to check) is going to cut it.

Well i have a 2000 SC 19'6" which runs about 3800# and gives a 5000# truck or car tow rating a good workout

The 2300 SC is a MUCH larger boat with a dry weight around 4100 # and you would need a scale to get a real two weight

After talking with a few boat/trailer buddies, I've made the decision to trade in one of my other cars and get a good tow vehicle, something with about 10K worth of towing capability. The XC-90 isn't gonna cut it - it's too nice to trade in, but it just won't tow anything. Thanks for sharing the experience with your 19'6" boat.

I wouldn't say it won't tow anything but I don't think I'd do a traditional 23' IO/stern-drive.

I tow an '07 Yamaha SX230 HO with the Mrs' Volvo XC90 V8 with NO problems. Of course it's a twin-jet and much lighter than typical bowriders at about 3,000 lbs. With dual-axle trailer I'm running around 4,100 pounds total and have had no problems hauling up and down the steepest hills in the Seattle area. Once I got the hitch height right (and fixed a wiring harness issue that caused the brakes to lock up in reverse) the boat just about disappears completely. The XC90 has very strong brakes and the Yamaha built V8 is very stout with great low-end grunt.

I wouldn't tow much more purely because I don't want to tax this rig too much. Once I graduate to a heavier boat I'll have to get a true truck but the XC90 does great for now.
