will the trouble shooting chart sent out for the 4.3 engine be the same for a 1993 5.7 mercruiser as well for diagnosing a no spark condition?

Do you have a Thunderbolt IV or Thunderbolt V ignition system. If you don't know, what is the Merc SN of your engine.

I will have to look up serial #. it has an external coil and the and the rotor is mounted on a 8 pronged wheel

The distributors are exactly the same between the TB4 and TB5 distributors. The differences is in the modules, and wiring.
How many, if any modules are mounted directly ON the distributor?

it has one module on the back

I have a no spark situation to - one thing I noticed is that I have 12 volts on both the + and - sides of the coil? I dont think thats right? so I have a ground somewhere? I have power in two wires going to the module and nothing coming out to the dist?
