Worth messing with?

I found an 18' Larson with a 110HP Evinrude. The boat itself looks to be in pretty good shape. The owner said 1 cylinder is loosing compression. I haven't gone to look at it or even talked to the owner yet. Just going off the ad. He's only asking $1400.00 for it. I guess worst case I could put my 115 from my boat on this boat and sell mine with the other motor and probably get my money back out of it. Just curious if you guys think it would even be worth messing with.

Depends on if he means loosing compression or lost compression. If it's just a stuck ring you might be able to free it. If it has no compression it probably broke a ring which is a much worse situation.

Personally I would still consider it either way but I enjoy fixing motors... I would get some compression numbers before going any further. What year is the engine?

probably a completely blown cylinder. You're looking at a small pile of money to get that fixed professionally.
