Speakers Not working

Hello all, I know this is a very hard qustion to answer, but maybe if someone has an idea they could point me in the right direction. We recently purchased a Doral BR all the electronics seem to work fine, I just can't seem to get any sound out of the speakers. The boat is 10 years old, everything is in very good condition, but would it be possible that there is corrosion on the speaker connections etc?

Thanks, not that I am planning to do a lot listening to the radio but it may be nice the odd time.

Hi sbeamer, It could be as simple as that. If you can access the back of the speakers just check that the wires are connected and also that the connection to the soeaker itself from the input is still soldered on. You should be able to see what I mean as soon as you access the rear of them. 10 years in a salty/ wet environment is not the kindest to electronics. Good luck.

It's very likely the head unit is dead due to moisture intrusion. As was mentioned, the speakers are also likely to be toast. And then there is the obvious -- did you check the fuse and does the panel light come on to indicate the unit is even getting power? Is the antenna hooked up and functional.

"head unit" is the radio itself. Check the connections behind the radio and also check the wires. Depending on if this is a factory install, or a shadetree install, you may have bad wires, or polarity is changed, etc... Look for anything out of the ordinary. Also check your knobs to be sure the fade is not all "left" speakers and they only connected the right, etc... My $.02
