Re: Drive Shaft Bellows Help

Get some Mercury Power Tune and spray on it, some claim you can push it in with your fingers after lubing with it. You may have to hold it in for a minute or two once it slides in.

Power Tune is a Merc product for cleaning carbon out of 2 stroke outboards. It also makes rubber parts like bellows slippery for a while.
I would bet that all Merc dealers stock it.

Re: Drive Shaft Bellows Help

I've used this trick for installing hand grips on motorcycles.

Hair spray. It make the rubber slippery for a minute or so. It dries and adheres the grip to the bar. If I can't get the power tune locally tomorrow (Sunday, not sure who's open) I'm going to give the hair spray a shot.

gasoline work aslo, at least for grips. I don't want to chance having the gas attack the bellows and cause a premature failure...
