I was wondering if anyone knew about this, my digital camera got stolen a week ago, so I can't post pics.

From the engine block:

SER: 617591
MOD: HD 25

There is a number on the back of the lower sheet metal panel.

301727

the motor looks very similar to this:

This Ebay Auction

EDIT: The motor runs fine, but could someone please tell me the procedure for changing the gear oil in the lower end.

Thanks,
Tyler

Re: Year, HP and other info???

2.5 hp, they were built 1946-1950. The serial number puts it at 1948.

As I remember it, there is a large drain screw at the bottom and a small screwdriver slotted vent screw surprisingly high up (above the bulge as I recall) Remove both screws, let it drain and refill from the bottom till it comes out the top. Replace top screw first.

I would have to look it up to see what it takes for lube, unless somebody beats me to it.

Cool.

Good Info.

Where does the water come out of the water cooling system? There does not seem to be a "pee" stream on this motor.

You may not have a vent plug on that HD-25, Tyler. My HD (I don't remember which one it was) only had the drain plug. You remove the plug to drain, then lay her on the side to fill.

Cooling water exhausts along with the engine exhaust out the holes in the back of the leg. If you don't have a visible spray there think about a new impeller.
