Need help IDing the motor (OMC jet)

I just bought a used 1994 Novurania RIB with a jet drive. The PO bought it from someone else and has no information on it. From the way the motor fits in the engine bay, it looks like a replacement motor. The engine cover says "OMC 90 HP" on it. It has 4 spark plugs/cyl and a separate oil reservoir with an in-line primer pump/bulb.

I am trying to identify the motor. With an oil reservoir, should I assume it is a 2-stroke? Does anyone know anything about OMC jet drives? I was not able to google anything of help to me. I cannot find the OMC web site.

Go to http://epc.brp.com/default.aspx?brands=ej&lang=E

Click on Turbo Jet from the "Products" drop-down list. See if you can find anything that looks familiar.

It is an OMC Turbojet motor, a basic V4 crossflow engine with some safety modifications for inboard use. If it is mounted on the drive, it is probably the original unless the welch plug indicates a replacement powerhead. The whole setup including the drive is shown on the TurboJet parts diagrams as indicated by F_R.​

The model number and serial number was on a plate on the port side of the gearcase if it has not been lost.​

The tank in your picture is the muffler.

Thanks Ezeke, that was very helpful. Would you happen to know if this is a 2 or 4 stroke motor? It is a V4 but from the plug positions it looked like it is a V4 laying on its side.

It's a two cycle with a VRO type fuel pump- the pump is in that can on the starboard side. The plastic Engine cover can be removed with 4 bolts. The engine is mounted upright with the pistons horizontal and flywheel on top, just under the TurboJet cover.

I have a Novurania with the 115 HP version of your motor. I believe they are mostly identical.
Once you get the quirks worked out of the motor, it is a great boat. I have clocked mine at 48 mph. Not bad for a 14' inflatable.

Do some searches here on OMC turbojet and you can learn alot about your engine. I hear the Jet drive units are becoming scarce. I am thinking about picking one up as a spare just in case. (Around $2K)

To REALLY clean your boat use a degreaser named "4U" diluted around 50/50 with water. (Wear Rubber gloves) Then go over it again with "inflatable boat cleaner" available at West Marine. It'll be so white, you will need sunglasses--seriously. My 1996 Novurania looks brand new.
