fuel problems ?

hi al i just had my 1985 120 johnson tuned up and the mechanic says it must be my built in fuel tank that is causing to run rough he says they usea a portable tank and it ran fine . has anybody out there had problems with there built in tank ? thanks .

Of course. Did he say exactly what is wrong with the tank? Full of rotten gas, rust, water or what? Clogged screen? Air leaks in the line? Bad anti-siphon valve? Sorry about the generic answer, but he gave you a generic symptom.
