I own a 5.7L Merc with an alpha gen 1 drive (1994). Today, while water skiing and tubing..the lower unit bottomed out and severly damaged my alum 4 blade prop. Also damaged was the bottom of the lower unit, looks like a chunk of the front and then there is also a 1/4 inch crack along the edge of one of the upper lips of the lower unit. I switched props to my Turbo 1 and trailered the boat. It sounded okay, maybe a little off, not really sure. But it handled well on the way back to the ramp. Does it sound like it's okay, should I have a mech look at it or should I make an insurance claim? Just for info..Fresh water lake.
