If I use my outboard 2-3 times a week in the ocean during the summer, is there any real value in flushing the engine before the end of the season? If so, how often?

Re: Flushing outboard

I used to flush my engine at the end of every trip when I fished saltwater. Reason was to eliminate any scale that might build up or potential for internal corrosion.....even though the engines are built to resist the effects of salt water.

You can read overheating threads on here where investigation reveals all kinds of crud in the cooling passages depending on what the owner/operator did with his boat when operating.

Your engine, your decision.

Like washing the car, another excuse to water the lawn.
