Re: fuel pump

I have a 1988 Bayliner with a 3.0 OMC & just last week (first family vacation with boat) had pump issues. An old timer told me to wrap a soaking wet towel arround fuel pump when it quit on me, I did this & the motor started right up. He stated that he doesn't know why but it worked. After replacing pump boat ran great.

Re: fuel pump

Ahhhh - the old rag trick. When your motor is hot the fuel in the pump will turn into being more of a vapor then liquid. The water soaked rag cools the pump down so the gas will return to a liquid state.
Once running the cooler fuel going through the pump will keep it from getting hot.
