1972 9.9HP Evinrude Stop Switch

Ohmmeter test of 9.9 stop switch indicates it does just the opposite of what it should; open circuit when button is depressed or clip removed, closed circuit when button free with clip on. Could disconnect and use choke to stop or buy new switch assembly for about $100. Have not found any used for sale. Are there and other repair options. Thank you!

find the wires, and put a push button switch on it. choking will make hard to start. all i does is ground out the coils so they can't fire.

Thank you tashasdaddy. Good suggestion. Any switch suggestions and source? Probably anything that allows for clean mount huh?

Just found switches at iboats marine store. I think I know where I'm going now. Thanks again.
