Hi There,

I own an Ebko Monte Carlo with a merc 3.0 inboard. My Bilge pump run about every 15-20 minutes for 30 seconds or so. The boat is always on the water. Is the pump running way too much??

I got it out of the water, change the plug and put silicon everywhere I could think of with no change.

Thanks

I would say you have a leak somewhere. That is very freguent in my opinion. I don't know the size of your pump but I would think you are looking a six to eight gallons per hour.

is there water in the bilge??? if its an automatic pump, they come on all the time and pump out water if there is any, if they dont detect any water they shut off, your posting said it was coming on, but you didnt say that it was pumping water out??

The outdrive bellows is the most likely place

You need to get in there with a flashlight and look for drips as a boat should not leak at all other than rain water

I am also surprise that the battery is OK but at least it is new. Thanks for the post I will look carefully this week end and, if I did not sink with the boat, keep you posted

Yep, ya got a major leak, and I would also suggest a bellows job...(you will know when ya pull the outdrive)..When the last time the bellows was changed? My big boat sits in the water for 2- 3 months...pump (auto) aint be on once (heck, I run water in the bilge once a month just to check if it works!..ya got a problem

Had a similar issue with my 85 and replaced all of the bellows.... still leaking. Put her on the trailer and siliconed all the knicks and cracks I could find on the hull and she hasn't let in a drop. Could be another place to look, especially if you beach her.
