i/o steering for outboard?

can i use a steering system from a searay (15 ft cable) on my outboard. it would be mounted on a 16 foot fishing boat. i beleive that it is a rack and pinion but im not sure.

The steering systems for outboards and I/Os are the same. Is the cable the proper length?

Well, a 15 foot steering cable does seem a bit long for a 16 foot boat.
