Alpha 4.3 rotor stuck and other questions

I am working on a 1987 4.3L Mercruiser alpha one. The rotor seems stuck on the distributor, I know there are little screws under it, but it seems like it should pop off. Whats the deal?

Next is the drive oil, what is the capicity. And how do I know when it is full?

Next is the engine oil capicity?

Rotor Removal

Fill from the bottom of the drive till it comes out the vent screw at the top. Approx 38oz. depends on how sloppy or neat you are.

Engine oil is somewhere between the add mark on the dipstick and the full mark WITH ENGINE LEVEL.
Put in 4 quarts and start checking. DO NOT overfill

Thanks. I got it off by cutting it in the middle. Thats what I thought about every thing else. Perfect!

Doing the thermostat next, any pointers?
