It sure wouldn't hurt, It's a lot cheaper to put on a fuel/water separator then it is to mess up your carb etc...I installed mine and it hardly took any time. Better to be safe than sorry.
Best inexpensive option you could add to the boat in my personal opinion. I think it is a must to avoid many issue that can arrise from bad / dirty gas.
When I bought my boat (96 bayliner with 3.0) I had (inherited) gas issues that plugged the ceramic filter in the pump and also the inlet filter in the carb.
I put the seperator / filter in and it was plugged solid to the point engine would not run and had to bypass filter to get home one night.
Replaced the filter and 3 years later still running like a champ with no fuel issues what so ever.
