and some more pictures.

the teak wood in this boat is flawless, anywhere there was fake wood grain paneling, he replaced it with real teak, for the age, everything is in really good shape, I am really glad I waited to buy a boat.

That boat is absolutely amazing. I'd be proud just pulling that thing behind my truck just going to the super market. You did good!!

And yes, doing the work that I've done to my boat, and the work others have done to theirs does give you a sense of what has been done to the boat, lets you know the intimate details about the boat and gives you a chance to make it the way you want it to be... but I'm not sure I'll ever do it again. I build custom motorcycles in my spare time, ground up (frame, tanks, etc) and I find that easier then a boat re-build. Might just be because I was learning new skills as I went along but grinding fiberglass still doesn't appeal to me rofl.

You did good with that purchase and it sounds like you and your family are going to have a BLAST with it! Like tmh said though, you have a great boat but you now have the burden of keeping it prestine (especially if you take that gentleman out once in a while) ;) It doesn't take much to do and it's all the little things you do that will keep it the way it is.

Congratulations, You got one Helluva Great Boat There!!! I don't know much about aluminum boat's but I'd be proud to own it myself, and it appears very clean, plush, and user friendly! Best of Luck, and Enjoy! Mike D.

By the way, I had an old early 70's Evinrude 115hp motor, that I ended up rebuilding, and liked it more then a later model 135hp Johnson that replaced it!

MAN!!!!!!! I think I'd be afraid to doch that beauty for fear I might scratch it! No way would I sit on those soft, perfect seats....might damage them! No kids at all. j/k

That looks like a "no cost limit" type restoration project. It being original is quite amazing. Those seats alone are worth the price! Wear sunglasses on that baby though......bright colors.

I can't believe the guy sold it rather than give it to an heir. That should be a family keep-sake.

the guys daughter wanted the boat, but he wouldn't let her have it because she didn't have a place to keep it where it was protected.

that engine is so quiet, you can't hardly hear it idling, I was amazed when he handed me the boat cover, and told me it's the cover he got with the boat when he bought it, it's even got a pocket built into it to cover the engine

Congrats. Beautiful boat. A good condition 9.9 motor can fetch a pretty penny so you made a great deal. Even the trailer is mint. My boat looks like your boat's retarded cousin.

I promised some pictures of the boat out on the water, but kept forgetting my camera, so this is the best I could come up with so far, never trust a 15 year old with a camera phone to take pictures, you never know what you'll end up with

Re: need advice on buying used boat

I had the boat looked at today, the mecanic said that he couldn't find anyting wrong with it other then needing new spark plugs, he said it was the cleanest boat and motor he's seen yet other then something new, and he said that this boat was next to show room quality, the compression check came out at 150 pounds on 3 cylenders and 145 on the 4th, he said it's darn healthy and extreamly clean, so I think I did ok on this boat, he said for a 30 year old engine, it was the cleanest most well kept engine he's ever seen and said that it was pretty much as it was when it came off the show room floor, so I'm considering myself rally lucky at this point.

Re: need advice on buying used boat

I never once got the feeling he was just trying to get rid of a headache

I want to find an old 12 foot aluminum boat to put the kicker on, I see them listed locally for about 200 or so, their old ugly and beat up, but they float, I thought it would work good for camping.

I think the condition of that boat speaks much to the fact that the guy wasn't trying to get rid of a headache! Great purchase, looks like you and your family are enjoying it! Bet the previous owner would grimace seeing the photos of those kids with suckers though!!!

The aluminum camping beater sounds like a good idea for the kicker.
