Four ducks fits exactly and only what the riddle asks.

I am with JB, four is what I came up with before I saw his answer, and totally agree on the illustration he used to illustrate it . . . Maybe Frogger, should stick to Frogs?

If the 2 ducks in front were side by side and the 2 ducks behind were side by side, there are 4.

If the 2 ducks in front are single file and the 2 ducks behind are single file, it would take 2 more (total of 6) to make 2 ducks side by side.

If you were on the in a house with 4 walls, all connected, and all walls face south, and a bear walks by, what color is the bear?
