Bolt/Rivett in bottom hull of boat?

After striking some rocks (separate thread) I took the opportunity to climb under the boat (while on the trailer) and investigate the hull. While under there I noticed there is what appears to be a carriage bolt & washer stuck through the hull into the boat. I assume there is a nut or something on the other end of this bolt somewhere in the engine compartment or further forward. Anyone seen anything like this before?

This boat was built in the late 80's (specs in my sig at the bottom). I didn't know if this was something common or what? I find it wierd there would be a bolt going through the gelcoat into the inside of the boat somewhere.

I'll try to remember to take a pic of it and post it if that helps.

Is it an aftermarket one? Do you see any other sensor's around?

I will assume its an aftermarket one since one of the previous owners mounted the depth finder ON TOP (!) of the capacity plate beside the steering column :)

I'll look for any other sensors.
