Earlier this summer I purchased a 1986 Glastron / Conroy bowrider and shortly after I noticed the transom was in pretty bad shape. I decided to use Seacast as the core material instead of wood. The rest of the boat is very clean and I am happy with the purchase. I wanted to get the most use out of the boat this year so I got right to work on the transom which I started last week. At this point I have the wood out of the transom and have made access to the transom from inside the boat. Because my boat did not have a inner skin on the transom I will need to create one.
I have posted pics/progress here --> http://www.iboatprojects.com
At this point, I need to sand down the exisiting fiberglass and clean the whole thing with acetone. Once that is done I have some inner fiberglass repairs to make and then I can begin construction of the inner transom walls. After that, the part I have been looking forward to, the pour!
