gamefisher 1.75

acquired a sears (i think) gamefisher 1.75 outboard. it has been sitting around for awhile, and i had it running last summer ... it won't start ... where do i start? i'm new to repairing ... would it be worth getting running?

Wow, I never knew that there was ever a 1.75 hp outboard ever made! :eek:
I've heard of a 3hp Briggs outboard engine made for inflatables, but that is the smallest I've ever heard of.

I'm no expert on outboards,still learning,... but if it has been sitting for over a year, try a fresh gas/oil mix first. Next I would clean the carb, and replace the spark plug (I'm assuming it has 1 cylinder) There is a thread on here about awakening a sleeping outboard. Just do a search for that.

If that motor is in good condition, I would say it would be worth getting it running. I think that might be a rare motor!

Go to the Engine FAQs, Lars.

Do the troubleshooting in "Outboard won't start".

Let us know what you find.

It's probably a Tanaka. Google Tanaka USA. They have service info on PDF files and sell outboard parts direct.
