Ok is there some kind of guide for how to do this properly? I heard there is fiberglass foam injected stringers or is wood better? I never did this before; I guess then you put plywood over this so you have a floor correct?

Do a search on iboats for "stringers" or "floor replacement" or something along those lines. There is tons of info you will find. Also check out the Crestliner threads, you may be able to find out more about your boat.

hello, go to the "crestliner" forum on this site and read my post ( please help identify this boat, pics). your boat looks just like mine as i have not yet been able to identify the model and year. can u post a few pics of the exterior? i bought my boat in similar condition as yours and re-did it all. i made all eight stringers from 3 (8') peices of marine plywood , buy the 5/8" width. take one 8' piece and lay on level ground. cut the other in half and lay next to it lengthwise. buy several tubes of waterproof construction adhesive and apply all over. place the other 8' peice so it's over the seem of the 4 and 8' section. place the other 4' peice down next to it. clamp or screw together with drywall screws so it's tight! u will have to remove the screws once it's dry. use a bunch all over to pull together!! u now have enough 1" plus width "stringer stalk" . u will find it's the perfect size! all 8 peices can now be made from this. u will also have some extra to use here and there. i will post pics on these great seat towers ( that double for storage) i made.
good luck! mine is on the water with most of the bascis done. do yourself a favor and do the floor first. it will make doing everything else easier!

Re: 1977 16' Crestliner Boat

hey , thanks a million! go to the boat builders forum to see the seat towers i made! i paid $200.00 for my boat but it did come with a great running engine! it was filled with water, had a rotting away floor and hundreds of pounds of oil soaked foam. all the wiring and cabling was cut or missing. the boat u posted looks like someone has already gutted it ?? u will find it's easy to spend $1500 only by just doing a basic restoration so be cautious of having to buy a boat with no engine! they are expensive by themselves. i would seriously consider a project with a running engine and a beat to crap boat if u can fine one!!!
