I have a 10hp sportwin it runs well normally. I just bought a 6 gallon plastic fuel tank it didnt come with a fuel fitting so I purchased one that is for evinrudes. I went to start it today for the first time in a couple of months. I used the primer bulb on the the line and noticed the glass fuel bowl was less than half full. I could not get enough fuel in to fire it. There is no blockage my tank vent was open and the filter is clean. I can hear air at the carb when I prime it and the bulb collapses for a bit . I am lost on what is keeping the fuel from flowing. Can anyone help as I want to take it out in 1 more day.

Thanks

it sounds like the float needle is stuck in the closed position.

Is it a new hose and bulb too? Many of the bulbs sold today do not have decent check valves, some only having one and relying on the ones in the fuel pump to act as outlet checks. Try holding the bulb with the arrow pointing straight up as you squeeze.

I think the hose is full of air and it is just squishing back and forth in there.

BTW, the glass bowl will never completely fill or stay full. Don't ask me why, that's just the way it is.

Do you have the fuel line installed in the right direction? The arrow on the bulb should point toward the motor not the tank.
