Hey Guys,
First of all, new to the power boating scene and I wanted to say hi.
I have been on and driven lots but this is my first actual power boat that i have owned myself.
I just bought a 2001 Bayliner Capri APSIII with a 3.0 Merc in it.
The previous owner said it was fully winterized and care for properly, but has sat for approx the last 8+ months. I went over everything and you could eat off the motor it was so clean. As well as where the bilge was.
So I took it out last night and gave it a good run (Some slower speed lower RPM stuff) and then after I gave it about 30 mins of warming up, I thought i would try it out a little more.
I backed off the throttle, gave it a second, then punched it.
When I did this, it would choke out and almost seemed like it was going to stall. It seemed like it was either starving for fuel or getting too much, but not too sure. When I would back off slightly, then let the rpms kinda catch up, I could then give it more throttle.
All in all the boat ran quite well, and i am happy with it, I was thinking that maybe it has just sat too long and the carb needs a cleaning.
I was reading and it seems like some people use Ringfree and some people use seafoam to clean stuff up.
Any thoughts?
Thanks very much.
Sheldon
