I Have A 5 H.p. Sea King Motor. Model #gg18736d Serial # 26x837655. I Think It Is A 1967. I Would Like To Know Whre To Find Service Manuals And Parts. I Think The Fuel Mixture Is 50/1. I Also Need To Know Which Plugs It Takes. Thanks

Re: Sea King

1962 by Gale. Probably not 50:1. Many Johnson/Evinrude parts fit.

Google Ken Cook marine manuals...he probably has one, pricey but mostly original literature.

Thank you
Where did you find this information? I was told 50:1 by a repair shop but 24:1 sounds right. I found out about the plugs j4c champion. All it needs now is a new fuel line. The points look good. :) Can't wait to get her running! Thanks again.

Re: Sea King

Your engine was manufactured by Gale, a division of OMC. In 1964, when TCW outboard oils became available OMC revised mix recommendations to 24:1 for all OMC-built engines built prior to 1964 and 50:1 for 1964 and all later engines.

Experience has taught us that the JW series 3-4HP engines work better with 24:1 up to about 1970.

Mine uses 1/3 pint of oil to a gallon of gas, closer to 32/1 I guess. I use 32oz of oil to 6 gallons of fuel.

The plugs that my book calls for are J6JM which aren't made, J12C work great, they are shown in the cross-over chart for champion dated 1965...:D

Both are 24:1. To calculate:

1 pt = 16 oz
1/3 pt = 16/3 = 5.3 oz
1 qt = 2 pts = 32 oz
1 gal = 4 qt = 128 oz
6 gal = 768 oz

1/3 pt in 1 gal: 128 oz gas /5.3 oz oil = 24 ... 24 parts gas to 1 part oil
1 qt in 6 gal: 768 oz gas /32 oz oil = 24 ... 24 parts gas to 1 part oil
