Anyone catch the news release about the russians claiming a huge portion of the north pole for the purpose of establishing oil and gas rights? Pretty scary and this doesn't bode well for the future in relation to decreasing energy supplies and increasing global population.

Can you claim a patch of ice? I thought it had to be land. The north pole has no land.

WBW them pesky Ruskies are smarter than that, they're using International Law to establish that the seabed is made up of the same materials that their land mass in the north is composed of. They sent down mini-subs, planted flags on the sea-bed and took samples of the sea-bed to prove their case

Must admit, I'm really surprised that the rest of the world hasn't seemed to say much about this..............yet!

Yeah! Them Ruskies have been raking in a tremendous amount of wealth from their vast export of energy supplies.

We are constantly bombarded by news of how "Big Oil" is ripping off the Americans populace and exploiting the 'Third World".

Perhaps it matters not that the Russian govt' uses their energy supply to blackmail and extort their former colonies and neighbors.
