I recently purchased a 15 ft bowrider with a 1974 mercury 50 HP outboard engine. It worked fine for the first 2 weeks, but one day I tried to lift the engine out of the water and it wouldn't move. It was like it was locked in. I looked down and seen a spring hanging with one end all stretched out. The boat is in fresh water in Maine for now so no problem, but in about 2 months I will have to take it out of the water. What do I do to raise the engine?
