First off thanks for looking. I am looking for suggestions on what type and power of a boat to get. I live in eastern NC and need something multi purpose. Fishing, Family fun with the power to pull someone or just ridding around. I would like to be able to run at least 35mph but really not worried at all about going over 40MPH. I would also like something thats safe to take on the ocean. I would not be going out far but may tag along with some family that has a 24ft boat with a cabin 4cyl tops out at about 25mph. My first boat was a 16ft Bass Tracker with a 35HP motor. I learned a lot with it but its been gone for 2 years and its time to get back on the water. I would like to stay in the 60 to 90hp range, 18 to 20 foot, and under $9000. These are just suggestions and looking to find out what I really need to be looking for. I got to ride in a 18ft bayliner open bow, and a 24ft Carolina skiff this past weekend and have to say I loved the open space of the skiff. I know that 24 foot is a little lager than I can get but thinking the 18ft still has plenty of space. 1965dlx is one that I have looked at. Question is can you take a flat bottomed boat out in the ocean? Would the 1965dlx and a 60 HP motor do what I need it to do? Or do I really need to be looking for a V Hull?

If you're talking going in the ocean, definitely go more in the 20' and up range. Center Consoles with a deep vee are nice; that sized boat is going to be underpowered with a 90HP.

Flat bottom skiff x 2-3' seas = extremely sore body(take tomorrow off, your going to need it).

Get ya a deep V,or keep her in the river.
