Replacing gimbal bearing and u-joint

Just wondering if anybody has some advice on replacing u-joint and gimbal
bearing on a 2000 model 5.7 volvo penta sx. Where would you find step by
step instructions with good illustrations. Thanks for any help.

You need the factory manuals; one for the engine and one for the outdrive. They are invaluable to any boat owner who does their own maintenance or who wants to know what the shop is talking about when they take their boat in for repairs.

Removed the u-joint billow hose? and found some quite a bit of water in there. I have all the hoses undone, my next question is after removing pivot
pin bolts, will outdrive just slide out taking main shaft with u-joint out also?

You have to remove the drive from the pivot housing first.
Your best bet is to stop, get that OEM service manual and read it before you damage something.
