Can anyone tell me if there are major differences between the 1972 and 1973 models of this motor?

Thanks,
Daniel

Yes, the biggest difference is the change from a Hydro Electric Shift lower unit to a manual shift system.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for responding. So will a service manual for a '72 cover most aspects of my '73 motor? I can only find a factory one for the '72 and the SELOC '73 thru '90 really isn't that good.

Depends on what you need it for. I think you should wait for the right one. The lower unit is different, the controls are different, the ignition system is different, wiring is different

If you are in a hurry, you can spring for a new factory reprint book at outboardbooks.com

Hi F_R,

You're probably right. I won't mind paying for a reprint if I could find one and I can't seem to access outboadbooks.com. Is there another souce to purchase reprints?

Maybe you are spelling it wrong. We aren't supposed to post links, but here goes anyway: www.outboardbooks.com/
There are some illegal copies out there. Ken Cook at outboardbooks holds the copyrights.

Just got a Clymer manual from Marine Engine last week for a '72 65hp Triumph. Ordered it Tues, it was in my mailbox Fri. Cheapest prices I found on the 'net.
