Hi Fellow Boater?s

I have a 1990 Ford PCM 351 5.7L V8 in a Supra Championship Ski Boat. After a day out on the river I turned off the engine to find the starter motor still spinning, the engine still starts sweet with no grinding, however the starter motor is running continuously. The only way I have found to stop it is to remove the neg battery terminal. Any suggestions?

Also anyone know where I can get a cheap Starter motor for this engine in the UK? I?m pretty sure mine will be burnt out.

Many Thanks.

Welcome to iboats......:)
Sounds to me like the slave solenoid is stuck in the closed position.....;)
Look for the yellow/red wire & tap on the solenoid to see if it will disengage....
If it is like a regular Ford solenoid, it should be easy & cheap to get one at an auto store.....
10 pounds or so.....
They are sealed & suitable for marine use......;)

Re: Continuous Starter with no grinding.

Thanks for your help, I tried hitting it lastnight, it felt really good, and it also worked. I think however I hit it a little too hard as it now has a hole. A shinny new one is on order.

Once again, many thanks.

Brendan.
