One computer model, GFDL, which has a historically very accurate prediction history, has it going right over my house. That would decimate this city, hands down.

Time to make sure the ol' generator works, looks like we'll be weeks without power again.

Sounds like a good time to go on vacation for a day or two so you don't become a "victim" of your own lack of preparation.

Good Luck and be safe to all those who are going to experience the effects. I've lived through a few hurricanes and floods myself and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Re: Dean heads for the Gulf...

In a perfect world Dean would hit the FL/AL coast as a mild storm and move quickly to us here in North AL. We are about 20 inches behind on rainfall this year and it has been 100 degrees plus for the last 10 days. The last time it was this hot for this long was in the 1950's. We need rain!!! Some areas are under a "no outside water use" restriction right now.

But the world is not perfect so I hope he dies in the gulf............

Hey LF!

My personal experience says to be very cautious as the models dont work too well when the hurricanes cross land. Dean will go off the Yucatan, and then it is pot luck.

Plus the forcasters always seem to have it follow too far South.

We will know more Tuesday morning.

If it is a cat 3 or lower we are staying at my parents. They have a generator and a log cabin home that is really strong.

Good luck, Ken

Dean heads for the Gulf...

When I first saw this thread, I thought the President had sent Howard to direct activities in Iraq.:D:D

Too funny! We should be so lucky that Dean goes to Iraq. I have a few friends "down range" that would like him to run a few patrols with them!!!!

Me, too sort of. I thought he was headed to NOLA to whip up some more Katrina drama. That's why I started a Hurricane Dean thread (I never opened this as I pretty much ignore all the political junk). SBN linked to this in my thread...apparently multiple threads are for political rambling only...

Thank God, Dean will miss the Texas Coast. We should all turn our thoughts toward anyone in its path of destruction.

Man those computer models suck after 48 hours projection.

Last week they had it going all the way to Houston, look how far south it really went.
