Installing a freshwater cooling system

Anything we need to do special when installing a freshwater cooling system.
We have the heat exchanger and the thermostat housing for the freshwater cooling.
but in the manual it says we need a sea water pump?
what is this and is it right?

The Heat Exchanger needs to have Raw Water to cool the engines Coolant,.....
And,.....
You need a Raw Water Pump to pump it thru the Exchanger.....

my old stamas had this. I never got the grasp of the whole thing but from what i understand the pumps from the drives pumped water into the exchanger, then water was pumped around the exchanger and through the block. The internal chamber cooled the exterior chamber that had the block water running through it. I am thinking of doing this also.

right i understand that i need a raw water pump but isnt that what the impeller is for?

or do i need to install another water pump?

on mine, i didnt have any extra pumps, i used the raw water system from the outdrive.

What type of drive?.....
A Merc Alpha 1 relies on the raw water impeller in the drive for circulation.....
If your engine is over a year old & has been run in salt water or has over 100 hours it is no longer a candidate for FWC......
Scale from the block & manifolds will clog the exchanger.....​

yea i forgot the volvos use the block for cooling, but my engines were way over 1 year old and were used in salt lots and had FWC..
