Hello Guys!

I have a 3.0L OMC cobra in a Bayliner and the belt is continuously being worn out. Any idea where I could get an assembly drawing on the crankshaft pulley? It looks as if some kind of a rubber bushing has moved out of its place.

That would be the Harmonic Balancer,........
And,......
You need a New 1,.... Before you go boating again..............
As the next step in it's disintegration could very well be Catastrophic.......

I Don't,.....

But,....
What you have is the Harmonic Balancer is Pressed onto the Crankshaft,+ the Pulley is bolted to it......
You'll need a Puller to remove the Balancer,.....
Then the New 1 is Pressed back On.....

There is a tool for installing it, Don't even think about using a hammer. The crankshaft thrust bearings really hate that.

While it sounds like you really need a new harmonic balancer, it won't be what is killing your belts. You probably have very rusty pulleys that just eat the belt up like sand paper. Either replace them, or sand them smooth and paint them with a really tough paint. Rustolem works great. Just let it dry for a couple of days before putting the belts on.
Check the circulation pump pulley and the alternator pulley too.

You can borrow a puller from most auto parts stores like Autozone etc.

Remove the balancer carefully enough to not pull it apart. Once it's off, send it HERE, He'll rebuild it and make it like new for less than a new one (which is probably not easily available) He also told me that he has a one day turn around time. The shipping take longer.

Cheers,

Rick
