I'm replacing a floor in a 18ft. bowrider Wellcraft and found water in the foam. I have not checked to see how deep yet. If I leave it exposed to the air and out of rain for 2-3 months will it dry out, or should I just give that thought up. This was meant to be a winter project so I don't mind letting it dry out if it will.

replace it. it may dry some, but never completely, and will reabsorb more quickly.

I just rebuilt stringers and floor on my 1884 Larson Bow rider and ALL the foam in it was JUNK! it is a lot of work, do it right! replace it, it will cost about $100. It worth it after all that work. I took 300 pounds of soaked foam out of my boat. Hope this helps.

It'll never dry. But more important the wood in your wood stringers, etc. if not already, will rot more.

OK, out it comes then. I would thank you for your responses but I didn't like your answers. Just kidding. Thanks guys. Nova II 260, is that a rear view with a transom cut off? I didn't realize there was wood in the hull itself.

I can't remember which bayliner this was.

It wasn't mine. I just took the pics after the guy cut the bow off. I'll ask when I see him again.

After looking at all the photos on that website, I was surprised at how thick the hull glass job was. And the foam does not appear to be fully soaked, which is unusual for a boat that old. Wonder if it had anything to do with the foam being encapsulated with a glass layer. Never saw that before.

The floor looks like junk. But it does not sit directly on the foam. Its also curved up. Wonder if this floor was replaced once before.

All in all, that boat did not look bad. Do you know why he cut it in half?

The boat as junk and I believe the guy cut the nose of for restaurant deco art somewhere. I took those pics in 2000. I'll get the story on it sometime this week.
