I just picked up this old classic 1965 Skeeter. Payed $125 for it and got a 1970 selectric shift 40hp evinrude o/b thrown in with it(said to run). I don't know much about these old Skeeters, but do you all think it's a good deal?

I don't know for sure the 75hp Mccullock o/b was original to the boat. Can anyone help me there?

Over all the boat is in great condition. A little compound and wax on the old oxidized paint brought it back to a shiney finish. The interior is solid and clean. If the motor starts up, all i'll have to do is buff it out, put new seat cushions on and off I go to the lake.

Re: 1965 Skeeter bass boat

I remember those - wanted one really bad - the first ever original bass boat with stick steering & electric trolling motor, not a lot of leg room. Made in Lousiana or was it east Texas. Terry boats might dispute that claim. And/or Kingfisher. I can't imagine running a 75 on that hull - too dangerous with the driver up front - as motors got more powerful boat makers moved the helm further back. I'm sure I never saw one with more than 35hp - never rode in one but I recall they move pretty darn well
