have a 85 deck boat with faded paint on fiberglass it cleans up looks good for a few days then looks fadded again can anything bring paint back

you might try a couple of coats of clear coat if it is painted. or gel coat if it is colored glass.

I think we need a little more information on what it is, is it paint or gel coat, is it house paint, automotive paint, or boat paint, did you just wash the boat, did you wax it, did you buff it, did you sand it?

Most of the it can be made to look better, we just need to know what we're starting with.

it is factory paint the underside is gelcoat i just purchased boat previce owner said he tried several cleaners with no help ive washed i by hand look good till it dries waxed a small aera and buffed looked good for a day and hazed back up have not done any sanding that would be last resort boat is dark tan light tan underside both are doing it maybe fiberglass was colored dont know how to tell

The surface of gel coat will bleach out and lose it's color and gloss in the sun. When you wash it, or apply wax the color looks like it comes back, but when the water or oil in the wax dries out, the fadded surface is noticable again. You need to remove the faded layer and then buff it to get a good gloss. Try sanding with 600 grit or finer sand paper and then buff it to see if the results are to your liking (just do this on a small area to start with). there are other methods, like comet and a scrub pad (it does the same thing as sanding), or some here use vaseline. The vaseline method is sort of what you did before, but may last longer, at least according to some members here.
