Friend had a 88 Center Console...Force 125 hanging off the back..thats the way they made them. Doubt you have an L Drive...but the diff is enormous

If it looks like an outboard, you have an outboard.
If it looks like a strange inboard, it is an L-drive.

L-drives were not put on any bass boats that I know of.

If you know the model number and year of the motor, most likely a 1988, you have the Prestolite ignition with the blue cd power packs and blue coils.

Re: nu b with ?

Find the model/serial number on the engine, often port side of tilt bracket. Also, mine had a little white model number sticker on the side of the powerhead. Model number should include the hp and the model year. For instance, mine is 906X91A (90 for hp, 6X for type, 91 for year, A for version)

With the model number in hand, manuals and parts suppliers will tell you what parts belong, ignition type, etc.

Hope you can find it.

Good Luck!

Re: nu b with ?

ok, thanks for the info. i looked and searched and i think i have an "a" motor. but my coils are not blue they are black. still presto? ran it for the first time this past weekend and she fires right up but she sputters alot til she gets up to speed and it feels like the prop is either cavitating or slipping. there seems to be a slight mis-fire also. she also doesn't want to rev out. my tach is questionable but the speedo says 33mph. i think this boat should go faster than that? it had been sitting for about 3 yrs and i pumped 15 gals of old fuel out of the tank and figured i would top it off with super since i had nothing to put the rest of the old fuel into. as for props, are there any other brands that will interchange with the force? ie; merc, johnson ect? my volt meter and fuel guage are in-op too.
thanks for all the info.

Re: nu b with ?

1st: remember that, unlike your quad, this is a 2-stroke... 50:1 oil ratio. (probably stupid statement, but what the heck)

Will only take props made for Force (or universals with center hubs for Force)

Clean the carbs, check the fuel pump diaphram for cracking, replace the water pump impeller. Three years of sitting is going to cause problems with all.

Did you find a model number?

For parts, try right here at iBoats, and Google... whole lot of parts on eBay also.

Most importantly, get a manual - Clymers or, preferably, the manufacturers service manual - it's much more detailed for your specific engine. Usually see them on eBay also. The Seloc is way too vague. I made the mistake of getting it first... what a headache.

Good Luck!
