How was the old one? I don't know the rule of thumb for toons, but I would say, measure where your cavitation plate is on the merc, and mount the 'rude so the cav plate is at the same height.
when I took the Merc off I took it to a Machine shop and had a solid stainless Transom put in as well as a plate welded on the end of the right toon to remount my Deptfinder and to install the intake screen for my fresh water washdown so I am starting with a blank slate I am hoping someone knows a good way to start off like should the prop be a foot below the bottom of the toons or 6 inches or even with the bottom of the toon
That might work if I knew the hight the merc was but as I said I have a new transom and a totally different motor so I am hoping to get some ideas of where to start before I end up with 12 new holes in my Transom
I would suggest that the simplest way to get that info at this point would be to measure other pontoon boats with similar setups since you have no reference points to start with anymore.
Maybe the quickest way might be a dealers lot.If you visit the mfgs. website you may get a clue there, also any pics you may have taken with your old setup installed might be helpful.Ron G
I take plenty of pic's of the fish we catch and a couple of the Toon but it is always in the water have gone around to a couple of boat places but they either dont have engines yet or they are smaller motors one of the Dealers told me about this site said if anyone would know they would be on here so I took a shot and Joined
