1985-1988 70hp & 90hp Mikuni Oil Pump

A Mikuni oil pump, Yamaha part # 6H1-WS132-00-00, has replaced the original oil pump. This new oil pump requires external check valves and a different linkage. Does anyone know where the installation instructions for this new oil pump may be found? They are not included with the oil pump.

I made at least 8 or 9 calls to Yamaha over a weeks time. They have not been able to find it yet. They faxed me some information but it was not for the pump that I have.

there is a tech bulliten for it. the old style pumps have been long gone.
if your dealer cant find the bulliten maybe a call to Yamaha in Kennesaw GA will help.

I know there must be a tech bulletin for it but I have called Kenesaw, GA at least 10 times and they can't find it. If someone had the number or date of the bulletin they could probably find it. They should include instruction in the kit that they sell that contains the new style oil pump. The kit has absolutely no instructions and it does not refer to any tech bulletin.

it exists, trust me.
there was a rotaional issue on some of the older pumps but I cant remember all the details. to attach the oil lines simply use a later model 3 cyl service manual and use the late model oil link rod adjusting procedure. I would reccomend running 50/1 premix while testing the new set up.
in my area we dont work on much older than 6 or 7 years.
thats about the difference in a 16,000 dollar motor and 16 cents a pound.

Thanks for the reply Rodbolt. Yes, I know that the technical bulletin exists. I located information for the updated oil pump kit for a 1984-1988 40hp and 50hp engines. That information is on page 4-18 and 4-19 of the 1999 Marine Technical Guide - Technical Service Information. It lists the dimension of the control link for the new oil pump. The 40hp and 50hp oil pump kit is a different part number from the 70hp and 90hp motors. Is the control link dimension the same for all four motors? Any information is greatly appreciated.
